Lives devastated as El Niño drives drought in Mozambique – in pictures

Some 40 million people in countries across southern Africa remain in the grip of an intense drought, induced by one of the strongest El Niño occurances on record. In Mozambique, lack of water has wiped out crops and killed livestock, with communities eating seeds and roots to survive. Children have dropped out of school to forage for food, and malnutrition is rife. More...
